Travel Theme: Foliage

On my recent vacation to California, I was struck by the lush, varied plant life.  From palm trees on the coast to the vineyards in Sonoma and Napa Valley, it seems as if every plant imaginable grows there.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Everyday Life

I live in a rural area surrounded by fields growing crops such as cotton, corn, soybean, sugar cane, and milo. Everyday life for me is encountering farm equipment on the road and watching the landscape change as the growing season changes. Well, Isaac turned direction and diminished and those farmers whose cotton was not quite ready to be picked were spared. Now the fruits of their labor are ready to be harvested.

“White Light/White Heat”
Nick Cave, Warren Ellis & The Bootleggers feat. Mark Lanegan

♫”

This strangely uplifting cover by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis of the Velvet Underground’s “White Light/White Heat” actually inspired a sign of happiness. What an amazing rendition of “White Light!” This weird yet killer rendition sounds as if The Velvet Underground were stranded on the Mason Dixon line and played a show with a bluegrass band down south just to get back home to New York City. Former Screaming Trees and sometime Queens of the Stone Age member Mark Lanegan’s vocal echoes a near perfect John Cale tribute. It sounds…
